National Pork Board is now accepting applications for its 2016 America’s Pig Farmer of the YearSM award until March 13th at americaspigfarmer.com. The top honor will go to a U.S. pig farmer who excels at raising pigs using the We CareSM ethical principles, and who can best share his or her story of farming with the American public.
Third-party judges will be used to help determine the final award winner. The winner will be announced in October during National Pork Month at a ceremony in a major U.S. City. The U.S. public also will help with the final outcome by watching short videos of the finalists on their farms at americaspigfarmer.com and voting for the finalists through the Pork Checkoff’s social media outlets.
All U.S. pig farmers age 30 or older on January 1, 2016, who have five or more years of professional pig farming experience are welcome to apply by March 13th. For more details, please visit americaspigfarmer.com.
