Educational Materials

Educate Your Kids About Pork Today!

Each year, the Nebraska Pork Producers Association spends Pork Checkoff dollars to educate Nebraska youth about the pork industry through the distribution of various educational materials.

These materials are provided free of charge to school teachers across the state, so they can teach their students about all aspects of the pork industry—everything from where a pig comes from to the

by-products of a hog.

Depending on the age of your child, or children in your area, you can choose which worksheet or activity book is right for them.  Included on this page is a partial listing of the materials available and the appropriate school grade.

If you know your child’s daycare or school would be interested in some of these materials, or if you would like copies to use while teaching your child, please call Kyla at the Nebraska Pork Producers Association, (888) 627-7675 or (402) 472-2528, or send an e-mail to kyla@nepork.org.

"Pack a Powerful Punch with Protein"

An educational program for classrooms, day cares,

and other facilities across Nebraska

The Nebraska Pork Producers Association is continuing to provide many educational resources free of charge to educators, day cares and others across the state.  NPPA does have some Nebraska-specific materials, but due to the cost to produce such materials the association relies on the National Pork Board to provide materials for each state to purchase.  One new educational resource has recently been unveiled, as the National Pork Board is proud to present “Pack a Powerful Punch with Protein,” an educational program developed for 7th and 8th grade Family and Consumer Science classrooms.

The program contains a DVD with four short chapters, focusing on the function and importance of protein, food safety and meat handling, fun food lab ideas with kid-friendly pork recipes and more.  The program also includes a CD component that contains learning activities, games and quizzes that correspond to the DVD chapters.

Included with the program is a “how to” guide designed to assist teachers to integrate the “Pack a Powerful Punch with Protein” content into their current curriculum.
